Electric Cloud Announces Dramatic Reduction in Build Times for Microsoft Visual Studio Users

- Leader in build optimization extends solution to Microsoft Visual Studio -

Mountain View, CA, June 14, 2006 — Electric Cloud today announced the latest release of ElectricAccelerator, the Company's software build acceleration product. ElectricAccelerator 3.5 features the first enterprise-grade build accelerator for Microsoft® Visual Studio® builds, which will enable Visual Studio users to significantly reduce build times.

With this newest edition, ElectricAccelerator can now automatically accelerate the building of Visual Studio projects to help software development organizations achieve scalable performance and maximum build speed.

Visual Studio Support from ElectricAccelerator
ElectricAccelerator is the only build solution that can manage all dependencies in Visual Studio C/C++ builds, enabling massively parallel builds even as applications grow in size and complexity. Only ElectricAccelerator can support components from Make tools (including multiple Make variants) and Visual Studio in a single build.

Using ElectricAccelerator, development teams can dramatically reduce build times of Visual Studio projects to boost developer productivity, speed time to market, and ultimately improve output quality.

In a recent survey of 352 software build professionals conducted by Osterman Research for Electric Cloud, Visual Studio users indicated a need for solutions that speed build times and minimize time spent on broken builds. More than 65 percent of Visual Studio users reported a build time of greater than one hour. More than 20 percent of those respondents reported build times of greater than four hours.

"The build bottleneck slows time to market, hampers developer productivity, and impacts quality across all types of software environments," said Mike Maciag, CEO of Electric Cloud. "We are happy we're able to directly address the needs of Visual Studio users and eliminate their build bottlenecks with this latest release of ElectricAccelerator."

ElectricAccelerator 3.5 also delivers several additional enhancements, including support for multiple builds on each node in a server cluster. This enhancement enables the large ElectricAccelerator customers running literally hundreds of builds per day to gain maximum speed from their build infrastructure investments.

About ElectricAccelerator
ElectricAccelerator breaks the software build bottleneck by automatically managing and executing pieces of the build across a cluster of inexpensive servers, delivering dramatic reduction in build times over sequential builds. Faster, more accurate builds dramatically reduce the time developers spend waiting for their builds to complete and enable engineers to do complete builds before checking in their changes. This means faster time-to-market and ultimately better code quality.

Only Electric Cloud can help enterprises with complex, heterogeneous build environments to make builds dramatically faster and more efficient. What's more, build organizations trying to build with components generated from multiple build tools can now use ElectricAccelerator 3.5 as a single solution for optimizing and speeding builds.
